In April 2014 Iowa became the 8th state in the U.S. to enact a CBD or Low THC Oil law by passing Senate File 2360, otherwise known as the Medical Cannabidiol Act. The law allows qualified patients with intractable epilepsy to possess up to 32 ounces of CBD oil for patients and their caregivers who receive a recommendation from their neurologist.
Who can possess CBD oil in Iowa?
Patients with severe epilepsy, if approved by an Iowa neurologist that has been treating them for at least six months, are allowed to legally possess and use cannabis oil. Qualified patients must obtain a state registry ID card from the Iowa Department of Public Health if they wish to consume CBD or Low THC Oil legally.
What kind of cannabis oil is legal in Iowa?
Iowa patients and caregivers that have registered with he DPH are allowed to possess up to 32 ounces of cannabis oil that contains up to 3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). This is considered by the state to be a six-month supply of cannabis oil.
